Spring Literacy Activity

I am very excited about Spring and I always really enjoying creating Spring activities for our kiddos. I wanted the kids to get extra excited about centres for next week and I thought what better way to do that than to have the kids HELP create an activity with me! This one is cute, easy and definitely cheap and affordable for your classroom.

This is our new popcorn word literacy centre. The children helped by designing their own flower for the garden. I cut them out, laminated them, hot glued a popsicle stick to the base and with a black marker wrote words on the "stems". Here's what you need!

- Six silver pales (Dollarama)

- Small rocks (Dollarama)

- Popsicle sticks (Dollarstore)

To create the flowers, I wanted to give our kiddos a little bit of inspiration. To incorporate more technology into our program, I had them scroll through photos of spring flowers on an iPad so they could pick one of their choice.

Once they had found the flower they liked, they began to draw!

Here are their final flowers! So cute!

To finish off this activity, I created a recording sheet for them to record and keep track of which words they have already printed.

For our class, there are 24 flowers which makes 24 different words! If you would like a printable copy of my recording sheet, you can click the link down below!
